Most Hungarians still prefer to go out shopping as opposed to ordering online from the comfort of their chair, a recent survey revealed.
Although 20% of Hungary’s 3 million internet users bought something online on a regular basis last year, compared to 14% in 2005, the number of people surfing the web jumped by a third during the same period, which suggests online shopping is still relatively uncommon, the survey, conducted by researchers Szonda Ipsos and Gemius Hungary, said.
The unpopularity of online shopping among Hungarians may have to do more with distrust than unfamiliarity as nearly three-quarters of the people using the internet at least once a week said they troll online shops, auction sites or use price comparison search engines for information before they go out shopping.
The list of the most popular shopping related sites is topped by vatera.hu with 680,000 visitors in a month, followed by teszvesz.hu, arukereso.hu, kirakat.hu and Bookline.
