A several billion forint investment by the company behind the Royal Balaton Golf and Yacht Club will see a massive expansion of facilities on Hungary’s largest lake for those interested in golfing and sailing.
According to napi.hu, among the projects are a 1.3-hectare marina with a capacity of 133 boats, 21 apartments, restaurants and various service establishments, while a separate “villapark” with 75 luxury flats ranging from 30 square meters to 76 sqm will be erected on a one-hectare plot next to the golf course’s lake. Both investments are expected to be completed by spring 2009, in advance of a five-star, 140-room wellness hotel of the golf course, which will open for guests in 2011.
The first eight holes of the 67-hectare golf course, which is located between Balatonudvari and Örvényes adjacent to the Balaton Uplands National Park, recently opened. The finished golf course will have 18 holes, and when completed will be suitable for holding international tournaments.
