Hungarian state splashes out billions for new spa projects

The government has awarded more than HUF 6.5bn for development projects at baths in four Hungarian cities, government spokeswoman Bernadett Budai said on Monday.

The state has granted HUF 2.25bn for the construction of a HUF 4.7bn water park in Hajduszoboszlo, to be completed by December 2009, and it has awarded HUF 3bn for a HUF 6bn spa in Szeged, to be completed by October 2009. Another HUF 809m will go toward the HUF 2.7bn renovation of a spa in Zalakoros, to be completed by May 2011, and the state will support the HUF 1.75bn renovation of a spa in Buk, to be completed in August 2010, with a HUF 525m grant.

The four developments were recently named “priority projects” by the government, speeding up their access to funding and permits.
