Survey finds young Hungarians unconcerned about saving for retirement

Hungarian youth are not interested in whether they will receive a pension, writes Privatbankár.hu, based on a report by the OTP Volunteer Pension Fund (OTP ÖNYP).

Citizens above the age of 50 think of financial security during their retired years, while youngsters prefer directly usable health fund services, the pension fund reported after analyzing 2007 tax rebate verifications submitted to them.

Most people between the ages of 51 and 60 chose for the tax office APEH to transfer tax subsidies they are entitled to to a volunteer pension fund account of their own choosing.

Members are entitled to a total of 2.123 billion (over €8.3 million) in tax subsidies this year, of which they requested 63% to be transferred back from APEH to the volunteer pension fund, 2% more than last year.
