Hilton may take over famed hilltop hotel in Budapest

Hilton Hotels could take over the operation of Hotel Normafa, high on a hill overlooking Budapest, business daily Vilaggazdasag reported on Wednesday.

Hotel Normafa owner, Normafa Invest, declined to comment on the matter, but said a contract had not been signed, Vilaggazdasag said.

Hilton aims to transform the 62-room hotel into a five-star establishment, Vilaggazdasag wrote.

Hilton has four hotels in Hungary, two of which are undergoing developments: the 216-room hotel in Visegrad, on the Danube bend, is expected to open in 2009, and another in Budaors, on the outskirts of Budapest, will open in 2010. The other two operating hotels are located in the capital.
