TriGránit denies WestEnd II imperiled by financial crisis

Interest in the WestEnd II project is outstanding, TriGránit Sales Director Árpád Török said in response to a November 14 article in Napi Gazdaság which called the project’s viability into question. The report quoted Colliers International’s real estate division leader Anita Csörgő as saying that WestEnd II – in addition to a number of similar shopping mall projects – would remain an “idea” as a result of declining consumption due to the current financial crisis.

Török said over 48,000 square meters at WestEnd II have already been taken up, based on preliminary declarations of intent.

Michael Smithing, managing partner of Colliers International Budapest, also denied that there were problems around the project. He pointed out that TriGánit’s WestEnd City Center has the highest turnover data on the market and the highest rents as well. Smithing thinks that these facts, the long waiting waiting list and the sufficient preparation for the project ensures that WestEnd II wil become a reality even under the current difficult conditions.
