Index.hu widens net to Hungarian countryside with regional portals

Leading news portal Index.hu launched a new and a renewed regional edition recently, reports Kreatív Online.

Index has renewed its Veszprém County edition, Indexveszprem.hu, which was launched in 2000 and reported mainly on culture, and until now had been operated by the non-profit organization Szabad-Sajtó Kulturális és Ifjúsági Közhasznú Egyesület. This fall, the portal was bought by online publisher Kárpáti és Rábai Online Kiadó és Kommunikációs Ügynökség. The site was renewed and is now operating as a regional news and opinion portal.

Kárpáti és Rábai then launched Indexfejer.hu in Fejér County. Earlier, a public affairs and cultural portal similar to Index was operated by Datatrans Internet in the region, but it was discontinued in 2003.
