Toshiba sees growth in Hungarian laptop market as labor mobility increases

Laptop sales in Hungary will grow by 10% in 2009, according to Szabolcs Patonai, sales director of the Hungarian subsidiary.

The Hungarian market will grow to 300-350,000 laptops in 2008 as the demand for mobile internet and mobile labour grows, he said. The greatest demand is for laptops in the Ft 125-150,000 price category.

Fujitsu-Siemens sees most demand for its laptops in the Ft 120-150,000 category, said Fujitsu Siemens Computers CEO Gábor Poros. The average price of laptops has fallen 10-20% over the past year and this trend will continue, he observed. The greatest demand is no longer for low-end laptops but for better models, as people exchange old machines for new ones, Poros added.
