The Democratic Union of Teachers (PDSZ) will not go on strike on January 12, PDSZ told MTI on Tuesday.
The decision was motivated by the "uncertainty of the legal situation" created by a deal the public sector unions' strike committee signed with the government, PDSZ head Gabor Kerpen said in a statement.
The Unified Public Service Strike Committee reached a compromise with the government on December 19 under which their members in the lower income categories would receive compensation for the wage lost due to the elimination of their 13th month bonuses in 2008.
Twenty of the 22 unions involved in the negotiations signed the deal, while PDSZ and the Workers' Council rejected it, saying that half of their demands had not been met.
"In this situation the lawfulness of the strike that the unions' strike committee earlier announced is questionable," the document said.
Who needs education anyway...just so we can make a mess of the
world like the current global bankers and politicians? Time to go
the way of the Indian...but take technology with us this time. ;)
