Public benefit company Hungarofest has published a HUF 700m negotiated tender to create and run the public relations campaign for the city of Pecs’s 2010 European Capital of Culture Programme in the latest issue of the Public Procurement Gazette.
The winner’s tasks include sending out press releases, organising interviews, preparing TV and radio spots, and carrying out surveys of public opinion.
The contract will run for 30 months from April 22, when it is expected to be signed.
Bidders must show average annual revenue of at least HUF 100m in the past three years.
The deadline for bidding in the first round of the tender is February 13. The second-round deadline is March 6. A winner is expected to be announced on April 14.
Nothing as yet been built,very little is even started and the ‘biggest’ projects are ‘on hold’–who wants to get involved in this catastrophe ?? Are they going to take the money and make it disappear like the local corrupt gang, sorry I obviously meant local council ?
@Ricsi. Let’s look at this from the other side, at least they managed to operate one auction with at least one bidder! If Hungarofest wins, its a gold mine. Either they’ll be holding a few press conferences explaining why people are sitting under the open sky (as the venues weren’t built); or if everything gets cancelled, they can just bank the money.

Pecs as city of Culture is a disaster,every time I have visited the city for the last 2 years nothing has changed apart from a few buildings have been demolished and a big hole in the ground.

One will be an underground car park right in the centre of the city (at a time when every where else is trying to keep traffic out of the centres),
One will be finished as yet another massive shopping/office/Hotel complex,if the investors keep the funds flowing !
And the third was going to be YET another shopping/office complex,but it is now abandoned !

When the shit hits the fan in 2010 I hope that the MSzP local government in Pécs is made to look like the bunch of incompetants, crooks and wasters that they are. Pécs is another shining example of how Hungary’s cities and villages are in decline.
