Outstanding payments to Hungary’s tax authority APEH soared by Ft 300 billion (€1.05 billion) in 2008, writes Napi Gazdaság. The total of Ft 1.6 trillion is 18.5 % of the tax authority’s total annual income of Ft 8.8 trillion. Much of the increase is in bad debts, with the amount to be written off now exceeding Ft 1 trillion, while recoverable payments remained stable at just over Ft 550 billion.
