Hungarian tax office APEH carried out 17,156 audits targeting private individuals whose reported income was at odds with their assets to uncover HUF 74.5bn in unpaid taxes in 2007-2008, APEH head Janos Szikora said on Tuesday.
Though final audit plans for 2009 will not be completed until February 20, APEH is likely to carry out close to 6,000 similar targeted audits this year, Mr Szikora said.
