The number of internet banking clients in Hungary has reached 2m, National Bank of Hungary director Lajos Bartha said at a conference on Tuesday.
A survey of 13,000 internet banking clients by Privatbankar.hu, the conference's organiser, showed almost three-fourths never or rarely visit bank branches, preferring to handle all of their banking business online.
Published every Tuesday, the Budapest Business Week newsletter contains all the previous week's headlines from Realdeal.hu and related stories from other All Hungary sites, as well as a list of upcoming events of interest to the foreign business community in Hungary.
That is quite normal stateside...even 4 years ago when I first came
to the land of Magyars. Here, however, it is different. You pay to
use the ATM machine to get cash, internet banking is extra, you
have a limit of how much cash you can use on your (visa) debit
card...etc. Hungary seems to be at least a decade or 2 behind
stateside. And the U.S. is only God knows how far behind Japan and
South Korea with the tech area. :D
There is NO WAY 2,000,000 Hungarians are doing their banking on the Internet. No fricking way.
Maybe 2,000,000 online banking transactions, something like that, but not 2,000,000 individuals who are doing online banking.
Come on, Man! This article first talks about 2,000,0000 people who are "internet banking clients." Next, it is only 13,000 "private banking" clients. What? Whatever. Big difference in sheer numbers, however.
