APEH uncovers €2.3 million tax fraud by south Hungarian company

A local company based in south Hungary made fraudulent tax claims worth almost 700 million forints, the tax office APEH told MTI on Thursday.

The company had claimed unrealistically high turnover from a fictitious chain of grain marketers as well as producing fake receipts for tax rebates worth 690 million forints (EUR 2.3 m), said Gabriella Nemeth of APEH’s south Alfold regional office.

The company reported 35,000 tonnes of grain trades, while in fact only 360 tonnes of grain had changed hands, Nemeth said.
