Israeli-owned cinema chain Cinema City saw its turnover in Hungary rise 15pc in January-February, business daily Napi Gazdasag reported on Wednesday.
Cinema City CEO Moshe Greidinger told the paper March sales were also strong and the company expects to book a similar increase for the full year.
The recession is not affecting the company’s performance: it has opened new screening rooms since the beginning of the year, and it plans to open a multiplex at the site of the former Skala department store in Budapest around October or November.
Business at the previous multiplex Cinema City built in the capital, at the Arena Plaza shopping centre, is better than expected, Mr Greidinger said.
