Mobile services company Pannon GSM Tavkozlesi, owned by Nortel, had revenue of HUF 43.3bn in Q1, down from HUF 44.9bn in the same period a year earlier as termination fees were lowered, revenue from handsets fell and voice turnover dropped slightly, the company said on Tuesday.
EBITDA dropped by HUF 725m to HUF 18.3bn.
Pannon GSM had 3,594,000 subscribers at the end of March, 200,000 more than twelve months earlier, but 137,000 fewer than at the end of December. The drop from December was mainly in the pre-paid segment. The proportion of post-paid subscribers reached 43.5pc at the end of March.
Pannon GSM’s market share of mobile phone subscribers fell 0.6 percentage point to 33.4pc from December to the end of March. It had a 24.6pc share of the mobile internet market.
Average revenue per user (ARPU) per month fell HUF 386 to HUF 3,771 in Q1 from the same period a year earlier.
EBIT fell HUF 600m to HUF 13bn. CAPEX, mainly to expand 3G coverage, fell 11pc to HUF 2.8bn.
Pannon had revenue of HUF 188.3bn and EBITDA of HUF 77.0bn in 2008.
