A total of 1,800 billion forints (EUR 6.5bn) has been made available in European Union funding to help stabilise Hungary’s construction sector hit hard by the economic crisis, a Socialist party MP told MTI on Sunday.
The funding available by application until June next year can help prevent domestic small and medium size enterprises from going out of business, Barath said. It is also expected to help skilled workers stay in the sector, he added.
He noted that parliament two weeks ago unanimously supported a bill aimed at helping the crisis hit construction sector, adding that the government had been working out further proposals aimed at boosting investment in the sector.
