Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Wednesday said it fined Austria’s Intersport HUF 5m for advertising bigger discounts than it actually delivered at its stores in Hungary.
Between June 2007 and July 2008, Intersport advertised an “original” price and a discounted price for products on sale. But the original price has often never been used by the retailer, giving customers the illusion of a much bigger discount, GVH said.
