Two tax authorities of Hungary and Romania on Friday signed an agreement in Szeged (S Hungary) on cooperation in fighting cross-border tax fraud, a senior Hungarian tax official told MTI.
The Hungarian Tax Office’s southern regional branch and the Romanian tax authority of Arad county concluded the agreement after a three-day meeting, at which they discussed cases of cross-border tax frauds or those involving a chain of deals, which are of concern for both authorities, said Csilla Czinege.
Tax frauds mostly involve trading in grain and computer parts between the two countries, she added.
She said beside their regular data exchange under the EU’s computerised VAT Information Exchange System (V.I.E.S.) other methods of cooperation between the two authorities were important.
