Hungarian, Romanian tax authorities intensify cooperation

The tax authorities of Hungary and Romania have been intensifying their cooperation especially since Romania’s EU entry two and a half years ago, Hungarian and Romanian officials told the press after a two-day consultation in Budapest on Tuesday.

President of Hungary’s tax authority (APEH) Janos Szikora said that cooperation with Romania’s National Agency for Tax Administration (NATA) has not only been limited to exchange of information. The two authorities are examining the ways of legal aid in tax collection and joint tax audits.

NATA President Sorin Blejnar said that the two authorities would have to carry out joint investigations to prevent tax evasion by joint ventures.
