Budapest court turns down challenge to canceling of mobile frequency tender

The Budapest Metropolitan Court (FB) has turned down an appeal by Digi Kft and DreamCom Kft challenging an April decision by the National Telecommunications Authority (NHH) to call off a tender for a new mobile phone frequency in Hungary, writes fn.hu.

Apart from the two companies who went to court, Mobinet and Invitel were bidding for the contract that would have seen a fourth service provider added to the Hungary mobile phone market.

The NHH eventually dropped the tender, blaming an unfavorable domestic and the international economic environment, which it said put the financing and projected returns of the project into question.
