New monitoring group to approve government-backed tenders

A monitoring group will be established to approve the issue of tenders worth over HUF 50m (EUR 187,341) that members of the government, governmental organizations operating under their authority and majority state-owned companies initiate after August 24, 2009, the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Kozlony reveals.

The monitoring group’s approval will be required for all tenders falling outside centralized-tender category and not implemented using European Union resources.

The monitoring group will have eight days to make a decision regarding relevant tenders, while the initiator of the tender will be given the right to request an opinion from the government if it does not agree with the monitoring group’s decision.
