The number of broadband cable and ADSL internet subscriptions rose by 176,000 to 1,623,000 in the twelve months to the end of June, telecommunications regulator NHH said on Wednesday.
The number of subscriptions rose by 23,000 from the end of May, NHH said. The number of ADSL subscribers fell by 2,000 to 802,000, but was up 23,000 from twelve months earlier. The number of cable internet subscribers rose by more than 150,000 in a year to 821,000 at the end of May.
NHH noted that it included data from seven smaller service providers in the June survey, to cover 85-90pc of the total market, up from 70-75pc earlier. In addition to the four biggest cable companies, UPC, T-Kabel, Fibernet and DIGI, NHH included data from PR Telekom, Zelka, Tarr, TvNetWork, ViDaNet, Parisat and Rubicom.
NHH publishes data for mobile internet connections separately.
