Southern Hungarian spas to receive Ft 5bn in development funding

The Southern Hungary Regional Development Agency announced Thursday that the thermal spas in Barcs, Kaposvar, and Tamasi (all SW Hungary) will receive HUF 5bn (EUR 18.73m) in funding for development and renovation projects by the end of 2010.

Southern Hungary Regional Development Agency Director Gyorgy Marton said the regional operative program of the New Hungary Development Plan will fund the construction of 12 new swimming pools and the renovation of nine other pools and at the spas. The spas expect to generate a 19pc increase in the number of guests as a result of the developments.

The swimming pool and spa in Kaposvar will receive the greatest amount of funding, HUF 3.4bn, in order to renovate its 25-metre pool and dressing rooms.

The spa in Tamasi will receive HUF 1.5bn to make its facilities wheelchair accessible. The Barcs spa will receive HUF 130m to build a new pool and expand its existing one.

Mr Marton said the spas in Harkany and Gunaras (S Hungary) are planning developments of a similar scale in order to remain competitive with other spas in the country.

Good news for once. Let’s just hope and pray the money gets through so the improvements can be made?
A balance sheet detailing spending wouldn’t be a bad idea!

  2. fabian says:

Splash!-splish,splosh-I agree with you,but remember a balance sheet can be made constructive if you follow! Better to have independent auditors accounting for every forint.

  3. Sploosh says:

Fabian. I know about “creative” accounting!!!
It is a start to have a balance sheet. It can be challenged, or analysed.
At the moment, especially as far as the government is concerned – there is very little paperwork for
any of the loans received from the IMF/EU and America. Some suggest a lot of that money is sitting in private offshore accounts in foreign lands like the Cayman Islands and Cyprus.

Hungary needs to establish its own system for collecting taxes – as most people appear to avoid
paying them. That’s why every so often Bajnai and his buffoons keep increasing tax. AFA = 25% !!!

Hungary imports everything. Mostly from China and Germany.
Simply expecting foreign auditors to resolve the corruption practices here in Hungary is wishful thinking.

Orban Viktor is neither a statesman nor reformer.
He already has the “begging bowl” out to the EU/IMF so that he, and his ilk, can indulge in the same dubious and clandestine activity as the MSZP jackals. (No accounting system, you see?)

BTW: “creative acounting” along with hedge funds as helped to create the current world economic crisis.
Hungarians have to learn to keep their sticky fingers out of the till.
They (Hungarians) must learn to be diligent and work hard..ha,ha,ha! Little chance of that! The fat, lazy, and dodgy type, grow on every tree – along with their gypsy counterparts.

  4. fabian says:

Sploosh@Thanks,I pretty much agree with all you say, especially regarding Orban and his ability to really change things. The average Hungarian can work hard and be honest, but why bother when he his indeed surrounded by such lazy and corrupt examples of ‘leaders’.

  5. Nyalasi says:

Sploosh & fabian, obviously just because the pair of you ever-complaining old ladies are kicking up a bitching storm in a tea cup here, things won’t change at all in Hungary.

Therefore, the two of you might as well leave this here web site and start your new bitching campaign about some other, randomly picked country on a different blog, hmmm?

  6. RandolphTurpin says:

Take a few months rest, Nyalasi.
I’m sure this will help ease your sick and troubled mind. I also recommend for you -
Preparation “H” if those haemorrhoids are playing up again…you curmudgeonly old bastard!!!
Might I take this opportunity to suggest a new
pseudonym for you. “Nyálas”. Would fit rather nicely with the drivel you constantly deliver- you old, slobberer, you!
