Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai invited head of the Finnish Innovation Fund (SITRA) Mikko Kosonen to Budapest in order to create closer partnership between the Fund and the similar Hungarian organisations during his visit to Helsinki on Thursday, government spokesman Domokos Szollar said after the meeting.
Mr Szollar added that Hungary wishes to take over and utilise Finnish experience in research and development.
He told the press that Hungary’s draft budget for next year contains close to HUF 50bn earmarked for research and development, slightly less than this year. A further HUF 270bn is allocated for such purposes in the New Hungary Development Plan between 2007-2013.
In Hungary, there are currently 130 companies operating R+D centres, including a number of excellent ones operated by Finnish firms.
Mr Bajnai made a one-day official visit to the Finnish capital on Thursday.
