As the recession has forced a number of small shops to close down throughout western Hungary, more than 500 new mobile shops have started operating, business daily Napi Gazdasag said on Friday.
Mobile shops had previously only targeted small villages but more recently they have been visiting the outskirts of cities and county seats, the paper said.
The mobile shops operate out of vans and they also take orders from shoppers. Their increasing popularity has also given a boost to van dealers and small companies trading in shop equipment.
