Pannon, the Hungarian mobile services unit of Telenor, inaugurated an environmentally-friendly headquarters on the outskirts of Budapest on Tuesday, business daily Vilaggazdasag reported on Wednesday.
Compared to a conventional building, the new headquarters will cut down on CO2 emissions equivalent to those generated by about 500 homes, making it one of Hungary’s “greenest” office buildings.
“When setting up the building – just like when operating the company – we worked for it to live organically, in harmony with the immediate and wider natural and social environment, not to ‘take away’ but to ‘give’ and to act as an inspiring force to all those who interact with it in one way or another,” Pannon GSM CEO Anders Jensen said on his blog.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway participated at the inauguration.
Pannon has about 1,500 staff.
Pannon did not reveal the cost of the headquarters.
