American investors Hungary’s Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai met in New York voiced concern about the situation that may develop in Hungary after the next general elections, Bajnai told MTI on Thursday, the last day of his visit to the US.
The great dilemma is whether the current government’s “consistent, economical and constructive policies” will be continued after the elections or “the country will again be derailed by (false) political promises”, Bajnai said.
The businessmen Bajnai had talks with “appreciate Hungary’s economic policy” and warned that making irresponsible promises posed a great risk, he said. He added that softening up that policy or returning to “irrational economic policy” were equally dangerous.
“There is no alternative to common sense politics,” Bajnai said.
The prime minister added that during his talks he had met a “positive, optimistic and hopeful” attitude concerning Hungary.
Bajnai reiterated that he would not run for Prime Minister at next year’s general elections. Bajnai also met on Thursday Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani of Qatar and the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, to discuss opportunities for economic cooperation.
“There is no alternative to common sense politics,” Bajnai said.

Why Americans or La Raza would not move to Hungary? In European level Hungary probably has the best welfare system and it simply gives money away free to anyone who just asks it. Officially Hungarian population is 10 million but it’s welfare expenses reminds a state with population of 20 million or so. That means that there is at least 10 million illegal immigrants in Hungary that are receiving welfare checks day in day out.
