Electro World opens new store in Hungary following takeover

Electronics chain Electro World will open a new store in Miskolc (NE Hungary) on Thursday, Electro World told MTI.

The new, 2,500-square-meter store will provide employment for 46 people.

Romania’s EW Electro Retail Ltd purchased Electro World from Britain’s Dixons Group in May.

Electro World will open new stores at shopping centers in Budapest and Eger (NE Hungary) later this year and an additional two stores per year beginning in 2010 until the chain reaches its target of 25 outlets in Hungary.

Electro World, which formerly relied on foreign suppliers, now obtains 90pc of its goods from sources located in Hungary.

Electro World currently employs 432 people at 9 locations in Hungary.
