Parliament yesterday unanimously passed a draft resolution on establishing a House commission to probe the planned Sukoró casino project. MPs cast 361 affirmative votes for the Fidesz-initiated proposal.
It will examine how the National Asset Manager calculated the value of entrepreneur Joav Blum’s orchards in Albertirsa and Pilis, Pest county, as part of the exchange contract for state-owned land in Sukoró, near Lake Velence. An expert commissioned by the Central Investigative Prosecutor General’s Office established that the state valued the land at nearly Ft 800 million when it is worth under Ft 200 million.
The commission will also will have to clarify what executive authority then economy minister Gordon Bajnai and finance minister János Veres had, and shed light on why the government classified Sukoró as a “special project in relation to the national economy”.
There will be four Socialist MPs, two Fidesz, one Free Democrat and one Christian Democrat on the commission.
