The decrease in retail trade sales worsened further in August, writes napi.hu.
Turnover at retail stores in the first eight months of 2009 was 4.2% lower than in the same period last year, and in August, 7.2% lower than in the same month in 2008, according to the Central Statistics Office (KSH).
Almost all sectors had a hard time, with the worst off including household products, furniture and building materials.
Hungarians are continuing to spend less on most retail product groups – except perfume, where sales improved by 7%.
