Tax authority APEH uncovered Ft 43.9 billion in unpaid taxes in the third quarter based on the audit of 183 companies, who now face an additional Ft 20.3 billion in penalties.
The list of highest debtors is led by construction company KPHS Épitőipari, which has amassed a whopping Ft 5.3 billion in debt over three years, but has gone bust meaning the state is unlikely to recover its debt.
Second on the list was a company called Bechkam, with Ft 4.4 billion in unpaid taxes.
Israeli investor Joav Blum, who is involved in the Sukoró casino project, is also on the list of bigger debtors, but claims he has paid all his outstanding debts to APEH, Népszabadság writes.
The tax office levied Blum with a Ft 50 million advance tax payment on the planned property purchases in Sukoró, next to the land that he swapped with the state. The sale did not materialise and the levy was waived.
Blum has also settled his debts regarding the land transaction with the state, but the APEH database was compiled before this had occurred.
How is it that somebody has to pay an advanced tax for something planned; and is then listed as a major debtor for a transaction that has failed to materialise?

I guess nobody told Apeh that Jews do not have to pay taxes in Hungary?
Some one should let the hungarian tax people (APHEH) to go to school and get out of the cominist style taxying and go to more down to earth. get updated and get a life………. hungary tax style sucks !!!!
this makes me want to invest in magyarorszag…
Go get the Jew. That is true Hungarian style.
Jo Blum, is that his real name? It is one thing unearthing these scandals but, quite another in compiling the information to bring a lawsuit and have it succeed in a justice system that has, time
and again, been found “wanting”.
Such are the vicissitudes in these sunny climes these days. When, and where, will it all end?
Ask Jo Blum, in a year’s time.
