The Prime minister’s Office (MeH) is selling operating rights for 13 state-run vacation resorts through open public procurement tenders, government spokesman Domokos Szollár announced on November 5, stressing that the real estate will remain property of the state.
According to daily Magyar Nemzet, the government explained its decision by saying that next year’s budget will provide Ft 1 billion less for maintenance of the resorts.
Main opposition party Fidesz said that if they win next year’s general elections, they will review all related contracts.
The daily points out that the government is probably trying to sell the rights to the state vacation resorts before they lose at next year’s elections.
