Grocery chain CBA is introducing a new kind of shop to the Hungarian market – the so-called soft discount store – with the first unit opened in Mogyoród in Pest County on November 12, reports mfor.hu.

The 100% Hungarian-owned chain plans to open 150 to 200 units of the new store – called “Cent” in upcoming years.

The new store was said to involve an investment of approximately Ft 300 million (roughly €1.1 million) and was erected in three months. The store employs 15 people and sells not only foodstuff but kitchen-related wares.

CBA Ltd. currently operates over 3,300 units, with 1,500 franchise partners. Total income of the group was Ft 545 billion (over €2 billion) last year, up 4% over 2007.
