Former Taszár military airbase sold to UK and Mideast investors

Ugarde Kereskedelmi, owned by UK and Middle Eastern interests, has won the tender to operate the Taszár airbase, with a Ft 1 billion bid.

The winners promise to spend Ft 0.7-1.8 billion on environmental clean-up costs, prime ministerial commissioner István Kolber announced.

Ugarde intends to transform the facility into a cargo airport for multinational companies by 2014. Work will start next year. Ugarde will invest a total of Ft 27 billion to develop the airport.
