Number of layoffs decreasing; fewer firms seen planning staff cuts

Only 10pc of businesses in Hungary said they planned to make layoffs in the next three months, a DGS Global Research survey shows.

DGS conducted the survey in November.

The number of layoffs dropped 70pc since reaching a pinnacle in March, Hungary’s National Association of Accredited Adult Education Institutions said Friday.

According to figures of Hungary’s Statistics Office (KSH), the number of unemployed in the 15-74 age group grew to 432,200 in Q3 2009, rising 105,000 from a year earlier. The unemployment rate rose to 10.3pc from 7.7pc during the same period.
