Outgoing media board president to make legal challenges to radio tenders

Outgoing media watchdog ORTT president László Majtényi will go to the prosecutor's office and also initiate a legal review regarding the controversial outcome of the recent national commercial radio frequency tender.

Majtényi said on Monday that he believes the procedure to have been unlawful. He resigned in the immediate aftermath of the decision and will officially leave his post on November 30.

The man is inspirational. At least one more person in office with integrity.

@Rolrox: "One more person..."

Who is the other one ? - I want to shake hands with the two of them!

@Rolrox, Wolfi: It seems that Majtényi László also kept to his word and refused to sign the contracts for the new stations, so I have no idea what legal status that has. They were signed by Szalai Annamária who was delegated to do this by Fidesz!!!

Majtényi has been quoted as saying, 'I have faith in the legal government institutions' ("Bízom a jogállami intézményekben").

Now that is something you don't hear every day!

Fidesz!! What is this, somebody dont like fidesz right.

Finaly somebody done what needed to be done!
Global media + global powers are not wellcome in hungary.
1989-1990 the west stole everything from us, its time for us to kick them out from the country.

Bad message for the investors who want to invest in hungary?
No. Not for those who actualy creating something, paying tax and bring in technology, but its a bad message for dose who dont pay tax, dont create nothing, and sucking out the money from hungary, and try to create, brainwash people working for slave money. Its better for them to go elswhere includeing the media who is backing them!! Thats my advise for them!
About the united peticion from other countryes. It tells allot. Just need to check the countryes names and we now whose countryes hands are bloody!
By the way, this is our country and if you dont like it we dont need to care. Go elswhere!
The neoliberal world is ower in hungary!! Get out from the country!

Happy Xmas

@Against modern slavery, as so many of your conterparts have done, you fail to actually establish the root cause of the problem and instead get worked up over the symptoms.

Hungary is an economy and, like any other economy, both internal and external business will want to and should operate in it.

The only reason these foreign companies are "sucking out the money from hungary" as you put is is because the lunatics that control this country are too stupid to see that the tax regime in general is unworkable here, or indeed, is far more favourable in other countries.

So yes, the government get 30% of nothing rather than 15% of something.

So all these companies do what they can to put transactions through another country's regime. The only thing that stops Hungary turning this around is the imbeciles that get into government.

And for the record, I am not sure any of the parties are any better than each other since they are so blinded by the current situation or their polarised politics.

@Against modern slavery: "...somebody dont like fidesz right" I don't like MSZP, SZDSZ and detest Jobbik amongst others. The joke is to have the opposition party calling the tunes when each party is collecting and exchanging quotes and examples in the media of how corrupt the other is. What a farce and only fools like you seem to enjoy and swallow this shite.

"...the west stole everything from us..." Your 'patriotic' gesture and companies that you support through the signing of these contracts will result in a drop of 670 million forints *annually* in revenue. How is that helping anyone?

It seems you are happy to be robbed and laughed at by your countrymen that call themselves politicians. If this is what you want, then you have a shitty life ahead of you, that's for sure.

@Against modern slavery, I wonder what is your
opinion of those many many Hungarians who are self-
employed and do everything they can to avoid paying
tax? To take one example, those who run car fleets
registered in Slovakia to avoid paying tax in their
homeland (but don't seem to have a problem
contributing to a neighbouring country that is not
exactly Hungary-friendly). To take another, those
who happily pay some of their employee's incomes
under the table and cheat the state of it's due tax
revenue. To take another, those who have offshore
companies as well, through which to channel their
profits. One or more of these apply to pretty much
every Hungarian company I know. How are these people
any different than the foreigners you describe?

JD. Vándorló. BTD. Absolutely correct what you all have said.
Hungary is a minefield of corruption and inefficiency.
Politicians from whichever party do not have the incentive to change things because everything works quite well for the grubby, light-fingered, bastards,
at the moment.
REFORM + REGULATION = RENAISSANCE.
Trouble is, it will never happen. Not in our lifetime, anyway
