Police have been ordered by the prosecutor’s office to continue their investigation into the cut-price sale of real estate by the Pécs asset management agency, writes local news portal bama.hu.
The predecessor of today’s Pécs Holding Zrt., the Pécs Municipal Operations and Asset Manager (Pécsi Városüzemelési és Vagyonkezelő Zrt.), was reported to police by a local resident in summer 2007. The informant named 11 properties they believed had been sold below their market price, at a cost of Ft 250 million (roughly €1 million) to the town.
Police had earlier decided to terminate their investigation on two occasions, concluding that financial damage was caused in four cases, but no crime was committed as the suspects had not violated their obligations and there was no misappropriation. However, the Somogy County Head Prosecutor’s Office has now repealed the decision for the second time.
