Hunguest completes publicly-subsidized hotel expansion drive

Hunguest Hotels has completed almost HUF 900m of investments supported by HUF 350m in European Union and state grants at three hotels in northeast Hungary, CEO Istvan Hulvely said on Wednesday.

Hunguest Hotels expanded and renovated its 190-room hotel in Eger, adding six new rooms and making doubles of 32 existing singles. The hotel’s wellness section was also renovated.

The company built a 300-seat conference room outfitted with the latest technology at its 129-room hotel in Galyateto.

At the Hunguest hotel in Lilafured, four rooms were added to the 129-room hotel and the existing rooms were renovated. The grounds around the hotel were renovated and the wellness section expanded. The hotel was upgraded to from three- to a four-star one as a result of the developments.

Hunguest hopes to raise total number of annual guest-nights at the three hotels to 211,000 within five years from 180,000 in 2008, Mr Hulvely said.

Hunguest Hotels has 22 hotels, including three abroad, in Austria, Romania and Montenegro. The company targets revenue of HUF 1.5bn in 2010.
