Almost one-fifth of Hungarian employers plan to cut staff in the first quarter of 2010, according to a survey by global staffing company Manpower.
While 19 percent of the 750 employers surveyed by Manpower said they would reduce staff, just 12 percent said they would make new hires, said Manpower Magyarorszag chief Judit Kiss.
More than 60 percent said, however, they did not see any reason to make layoffs in the new year, she added.
Hungary’s unemployment rate averaged 10.4 percent in August-October, according to data of the Central Statistical Office – a thirteen-year high.
