Parliament’s defense and law enforcement committee will hold an extraordinary meeting on Friday to discuss a petrol tender for state vehicles and its results.
The meeting was called by MPs of opposition Fidesz.
Government spokesman Domokos Szollar said on December 30 that Austrian oil and gas company OMV had won the tender, beating Hungarian peer MOL by offering a 2-3 forint bigger discount in all fuel categories.
Karoly Kontrat, a Fidesz MP and a member of the committee, told MTI a day later that regulations require police and law enforcement agencies to buy their fuel from companies, such as MOL, that are under the protection of national security agencies.
The police had a contract to buy petrol from MOL that ran until the end of 2009.
On January 2, Szollar said institutions that were sensitive from the point of view of national security would continue to be supplied by MOL.
