MOL again leads HVG list of top 500 Hungarian companies in terms of revenue

Oil and gas company MOL is again at the top of business weekly HVG’s annual list of the top 500 Hungarian companies in terms of revenue, the Thursday issue of HVG reveals.

MOL leads the HVG list for the third consecutive year with 2008 revenue of HUF 3,535bn (EUR 13.14bn), followed by Audi Hungaria Motor, the Hungarian unit of German automotive company Audi, with HUF 1,485bn and E.ON Foldgaz Trade, the Hungarian unit of E.ON Ruhrgas International, with HUF 947bn.

Audi Hungaria Motor placed second on HVG’s top-500 list last year as well, followed by the Hungarian unit of Finnish handset maker Nokia, Nokia Komarom, which did not publish the company’s 2008 revenue and was therefore not included on HVG’s newest ranking.

Gas-trading company Panrusgaz placed fourth on HVG’s top-500 list published on Thursday with 2008 revenue of HUF 781bn, followed by the state-owned Hungarian Electricity Works (MVM) with revenue of HUF 721bn and E.ON’s Hungarian electricity unit, E.ON Hungaria Energetikai, with revenue of HUF 679bn.
