Head of Hungary’s investment and trade development agency sacked

The economy minister has recalled the head of the Hungarian Investment and Trade Development Agency (ITD Hungary) Gyorgy Retfalvi based on the results of an investigation by the Government Review Office (KEHI) that put his competence in question, the ministry told MTI on Monday.

Mr Retfalvi was recalled from his post effective immediately and will not receive any severance pay, the ministry said.

The ministry announced the investigation in September.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Mr Retfalvi said he considered the decision of the economy minister legally unjustified, adding that he would follow a legal path in the matter. He also called for the results of the investigation by KEHI to be published.

Boy, that sure opens a rather large can of worms. I didn’t even realise competence was a prerequisite.
