Record number of Hungarians flock to Internet in January

The first workday of 2010 saw a record 3,489,000 Hungarians online, while several leading websites measured record number of visitors.

According to kreativ.hu, which summarized data collected by Medián webAUDIT, iWiW was visited by a record 1.36 million Hungarian internet users that day, while the sites of saleshouse CEMP (including Index, Velvet, Bookline) saw 1.06 million local unique users. The ma.hu network, the Ringier group, the Axel Springer Network, Lapcom Kiadó, Story Online and HVG Online also measured record number of visitors on January 4.

The reason for record number of visitors in January is usually cold weather and new gadgets received for Christmas, Medián noted.

    Perhaps a few were trying to work out how much more tax they would be screwed out of by the government in 2010?

    Just a thought.

    Either that or they were selling unwanted Christmas presents on Index to pay for the tax.
