The government has extended the deadline for receiving bids for support from Hungary’s crisis management fund until April 30, the government spokesman told MTI on Thursday.
Prime Minister candidate of the Socialist Party Attila Mesterhazy asked Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai for the extension last week, said Domokos Szollar. The fund would have expired on January 31.
The government set up the fund in August last year to provide swift aid to families that temporarily got into a difficult situation as a result of the economic crisis. So far a total of 3 billion forints (EUR 11m) have been paid out to 780,000 people in need with amounts ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 forints per person.
Szollar said the deadline for paying contributions into the fund has been extended until April 15.
