The construction of Daimler’s car making plant in Kecskemet is right on track, and the first Mercedes A and B class next generation models are expected to roll out in late 2011, the director of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary told an automobile conference in Budapest on Monday.
Authorities have granted all permits necessary for building the 800 million euro plant where the manufacturing hall will be completed by the end of this year, said Michael Friess.
The company bought a 441-hectare plot in the city for almost 9 billion forints (34 million euros) and plans to employ 2,500 staff to turn out an annual 100,000 vehicles from 2012 on.
