A demonstration was staged outside the headquarters of the state asset manager MNV Monday afternoon against plans by the state-owned horse-racing company to reduce activity this year.
The organiser will reduce the annual number of races from 48 to 35, and the total that can be won by gambling from Ft 183 million to Ft 120 million.
Some 200 demonstrators demanded that CEO Lajos Vajtó of the organiser leave.
Fewer races means fewer horses and some of them will end up at the butchers, so the real issue is breeding, one demonstrator said.
Right-wing entertainer Sándor Fábry turned up to speak on behalf of the demonstrators.
