Hungary construction sector output inches down 14.5% in Nov

Output of Hungary’s construction sector fell 14.5pc according to both adjusted and unadjusted figures in November from the same month a year earlier, accelerating from a decline of 2.4pc in October, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Monday.

In a month-on-month comparison, output of the sector inched down 9.6pc in November, according to seasonally- and workday-adjusted data, compared to a 0.4pc drop in October.

In January-November, output fell 4.0pc from the same period a year earlier.

Output of the building construction segment dropped around 20pc in November from the same month a year earlier, compared to a 6.6pc fall in October. In January-November, output of the segment fell 13.3pc.

Twelve-month output of the civil engineering segment fell 8.4pc after rising for 18 months.

New orders in the construction sector were down 21.3pc in November from the same month a year earlier, following a 25.9pc climb in October. New orders in the building segment fell 1.6pc, after a 40pc increase in October. New orders in the civil engineering segment were down 36.3pc after rising 13.4pc in October.

Total order stock of the construction sector rose 16.3pc in November after climbing 17.5pc in October. Order stock of the building segment increased 11.9pc and order stock of the civil engineering segment jumped 19.8pc.
