MTV denies plan to dismiss 400 personnel

MTV yesterday rejected a Népszabadság report that it plans to dismiss 400 personnel. Vice president Balázs Medveczky said the state TV network will reduce the number of those with exorbitant salaries.

The newspaper said it had learned of a plan under which 400 staff would be dismissed, instead of the announced 200.

Meanwhile, 40 people staged a demonstration in favour of state-run media in general and MTV in particular outside Magyar Rádió headquarters on Thursday.
