Labour Ministry to launch Ft 500 million job preservation program

The Ministry of Welfare and Labour Affairs on Wednesday said it will launch a HUF 500m job preservation programme on February 1.

The ministry wants to preserve 3,500-4,000 jobs with the programme, similar to last year

The programme aims to prevent mass layoffs – a minimum of 50 employees – at companies facing temporary trouble that can be solved by making changes. The programme is also targeted at companies that take over workers from other troubled companies.

Applications can be submitted for subsidies of a maximum HUF 396,900 per employee, which can be claimed for at most four months, on the condition that the applicant maintain headcount during the disbursement period and 4-8 months after that.

Regional labour centres will accept applications for the support from February 1 until the end of September 2010.

Subsidizing failing businesses with taypayers money is the right thing to do?
Problems in Hungary are deep and depressing.
Cranky old corrupt monoliths like the communist MSZP are not about to change things for the better. They (the MSZP) are quite comfortable whilst they can divert funds from any source into
useless projects and personal bank accounts.

I have fond memories of all of the USSR’s 5 year plans for economic growth. The spent billions for growth. It produced tremendous prosperity and endless riches for the People. We were rich beyond imagination and became the richest people in the world. Potatoes everyday! Stood in line for hours for wonderful toiletpaper! Do the Poeple ever learn from history?

Putin> a place for everything and everything in its place. Including a prototype aircraft that cannot be detected by radar.
Only trouble is, the Russian arms deals, and export of natural resources, are the only two real
    components of the ex-reds GDP.
Vodka anyone? Tax increase on the old tonsil lubricator recently levied to discourage drinkers
over-consumption habits. Won’t make any difference. Party pooper Putin is an ABBA fan -
I’m sure he takes the odd tipple as well?
ABBA music would drive anyone to drink.
